MVP strategy for start-ups

An MVP strategy tests at low cost whether customers will use and pay for a digital product. The architecture is designed for later growth.

The minimum viable product

An MVP is the smallest version that can test the most important assumption. The risks are too many features before the first test, or technology that later needs a rebuild.

Defining the scope

  • name the central assumption the MVP tests

  • build only the features this test requires

  • set success criteria in advance, such as sign-ups or return rate

What an MVP can leave out

Admin areas, multiple roles or complex automation can often be replaced. A spreadsheet or a manual approval step is enough for the first users.

Approach

The feature set is prioritised in a workshop. Short iterations follow, with real users involved early.

Technically, we rely on Laravel and Svelte. The data model, permissions and interfaces allow extensions without a rebuild.

Even an MVP needs a solid foundation: EU hosting, encrypted connections, backups and GDPR-compliant handling of user data. Fixing these later costs far more.

After the test

Based on the results, you decide whether to expand, adjust or stop. The architecture and code remain usable for expansion.
