Creating a digital roadmap

A digital roadmap sets out which initiatives come first and which can wait. It weighs value, dependencies and budget.

Background

A redesign, a customer portal and a CRM integration can all seem urgent. Without a clear sequence, projects run in parallel, block each other or get paid for twice.

What the roadmap contains

  • Goals: a few measurable goals that every initiative serves

  • Initiatives: with rough effort, expected value and risk

  • Dependencies: technical and organisational, such as data migration before portal launch

  • Milestones: when a result is live and usable

  • Ownership: who decides internally and who delivers

Approach

After a review of your systems, contracts and ongoing projects, we assess each initiative by value, effort and risk.

The result is a sequence in quarters. Our developers check technical dependencies from the start, so the roadmap stays deliverable.

Priorities

Results that reduce risk or save costs should go live early. Initiatives with unclear value go on a waiting list.

Obligations come before wishes: legal requirements such as the European Accessibility Act, software reaching end of life and security vulnerabilities. Postponing them means liability or operational risk.

Keeping the roadmap current

We review the roadmap with you at fixed intervals, usually every quarter, and slot new requirements in.

Management gets a one-page summary of what has been achieved and what is moving, and why.
