Integrating third-party APIs
Third-party APIs supply weather data, market prices, maps or AI models without in-house development. We check reliability, cost and data protection before each integration.
Typical areas of use
Weather: forecasts for logistics, tourism or events
Financial data: prices and key figures for portals and calculators
AI models: summarising text or pre-sorting enquiries, via OpenAI or providers with hosting in the EU
Maps: Google Maps, Mapbox or OpenStreetMap
Data protection and legal
Before every integration, we check which data goes where. Personal data requires a data processing agreement. For AI services, we clarify whether inputs are used for training and take the EU AI Act into account.
Stable and economical
Caching cuts requests and costs
Rate limits and budgets prevent unexpected bills
Fallbacks keep the application usable if a service fails
A separate integration layer allows a change of provider
API keys stay on the server, never in the browser
Approach
We compare providers on data quality, price, availability and data protection. A prototype with real data shows early on whether quality and cost are in proportion. In operation, we monitor response times, errors and costs.
AI features under control
We limit AI features to clearly defined tasks and check them with test cases. Where errors have consequences, a human remains in the approval step.
