CI/CD pipelines for websites

Automated tests and deployments make every update traceable and quick to roll back.

Background

A CI/CD pipeline checks every code change automatically and takes it live in defined steps. Manual deployments via FTP or the command line are error-prone and depend on individual people.

What a pipeline checks

  • Code style and static analysis with PHPStan and ESLint

  • Unit and feature tests for the business logic

  • Browser tests of the key user flows with Playwright

  • Accessibility, performance budgets and dependency security

GitHub Actions and GitLab CI

We use whichever platform your infrastructure already relies on. The pipeline is versioned in the repository, and credentials are kept as protected secrets outside the code. Changes reach the main branch only after review.

Deployment and rollback

Releases move through development, staging and production. With zero-downtime deployments, the server only switches over once the new version is ready. If an error occurs, we restore the previous version within a few minutes.

Approach

We set up automated deployment first and add tests step by step. Projects without tests start with smoke tests of the key pages. Your team can then trigger releases itself.
