Backlink analysis and link building

A backlink analysis shows which links build trust in your website and where the risks lie. Link building earns new links through content worth citing.

How visible a website is depends partly on which other sites link to it. Google still treats links as a signal of relevance and trust. Quality counts far more than quantity: a link from a specialist publication in your industry carries more weight than many entries in random directories.

To assess the link profile, we use Ahrefs, Semrush or Sistrix alongside Google Search Console:

  • Which domains link to which pages

  • Topical relevance and quality of the linking websites

  • Distribution of anchor texts and target pages

  • Comparison with your main competitors

We also check which competitor pages attract a particularly large number of links. This shows which content formats get cited in your industry.

Google ignores most low-quality links automatically. Purchased links and old link networks are the main cases that need action. We use the disavow tool only selectively, for example after a manual action by Google. Disavowing links wholesale usually does more harm than good.

Links that comply with Google's guidelines come from content others want to cite: analyses of your own data, useful tools and well-researched guides. Existing relationships with partners, associations, manufacturers and the press add further links. We do not buy links. Paid links break the guidelines and put visibility at risk.

Approach

The work starts with the link analysis and a comparison with competitors. From this comes a plan of content and contacts that can realistically earn links. Incoming links that point to deleted pages are redirected to suitable targets, which quickly recovers lost link value. Success is measured by new referring domains and the visibility of the linked pages.
