Planning a CMS migration
A well-planned CMS migration moves your website to a new system without losing content, rankings or editorial time.
Background
A CMS migration becomes necessary when the system is no longer maintained, poses security risks or slows your editors down. During the move, content can go missing and rankings can drop. A structured approach keeps that risk under control.
Choosing the right system
The choice depends on your content, team, integrations and budget.
Statamic: a lean CMS built on Laravel, with flexible content models
WordPress: a large ecosystem, when extensibility comes first
Headless architecture: content maintained in one place and delivered to the website, apps and other channels
Planning the migration
An inventory of all content, media and forms
A content model that simplifies editorial processes
A complete URL list with 301 redirects
Migration of metadata, structured data and alt text
Approach
Where it makes sense, we migrate automatically and review by hand. The new website is built in a staging environment, and the current site stays online until the switchover. We plan the launch with a short editorial freeze and a fallback plan. Afterwards, we monitor error pages, redirects and Google Search Console.
Outcome
The new system takes pressure off your editors and can be run securely. If you need it, we take over hosting and maintenance.
